Our Story

Every Story Has a Beginning
Ours didn’t begin with a business plan.
It began long before Wilson Design Collective.
It began with two little girls, a family who filled our lives with love, and a grandad who taught us to see the world a little differently.
Growing up, we spent endless summer days outdoors. Wandering through long grass, exploring woodland paths, collecting shells from the beach and returning home with pockets full of acorns, feathers and tiny treasures that most people would simply walk past.
Grandad would often stop us and say,
“Look high… and look low.”
At the time, we thought he was teaching us how to spot birds in the trees or wildflowers hidden beneath our feet.
Looking back now, we realise he was teaching us something much greater.
He was teaching us how to notice.
And without realising it, those quiet lessons became the foundation of everything we create today.
Two Sisters. One Shared Way of Seeing The World
People often ask us what it’s like being identical twins.
The truth is, it’s the only life we’ve ever known.
We’ve always looked at the world together.
We notice the same tiny details.
We become excited by the same colours, textures and stories.
We still send one another photographs almost every day.
A weathered gate covered in moss.
Beautiful bark on an old tree.
The soft colours of a faded flower.
A curious hare caught in the distance on an early morning walk.
To anyone else, they may seem like ordinary moments.
To us, they’re the beginning of an idea.
They remind us that beauty often whispers rather than shouts.

Creativity Has Always Been Part of Our Story
Long before Wilson Design Collective, we both built careers in textile design.
We studied Printed Textile Design at Loughborough University before spending many years designing for some of Britain’s best-loved interiors brands.
Those years taught us so much.
How colours sit together.
How patterns create harmony.
How thoughtful design can transform the feeling of a room.
Most importantly, they taught us that the homes we create around ourselves shape how we feel every single day.
But alongside our careers, another dream was quietly growing.
Not a business.
Simply a desire to create something together.
Something slower.
More personal.
Something that reflected who we are.
Why
Collage?
People often ask why we fell in love with collage.
The answer is surprisingly simple.
Because life itself is layered.
Our homes are filled with layers of memories.
Our families are built through generations.
Our favourite places hold years of stories.
Collage allows us to honour those layers.
A torn piece of vintage paper.
A forgotten textile design.
A handwritten word.
A carefully chosen colour.
Each one brings its own history before becoming part of something entirely new.
That feels rather like life.
Nothing meaningful is ever wasted.
Every layer has its place.

A Home Should Tell Your Story
This belief sits at the very heart of Wilson Design Collective.
We don’t believe artwork is simply there to fill an empty wall.
We believe it should remind you of who you are.
A woodland animal that makes you smile because you see a little of yourself in its character.
A favourite saying that becomes part of your daily ritual.
A floral that reminds you of your grandmother’s garden.
A family portrait that celebrates the people who make your house feel like home.
Or a bespoke commission that quietly honours someone you’ll always carry with you.
Every collection begins with the same question:
“What feeling are we hoping to celebrate?”
Because when artwork carries meaning, it becomes far more than decoration.
It becomes part of your story.
Wilson Design Collective
People sometimes ask us what Wilson Design Collective means.
To us, it’s much more than the name above our studio door.
It’s everything we’ve loved, learnt and gathered throughout our lives.
Our family’s encouragement.
Our years working in design.
The countryside that still inspires us every day.
The stories we’ve been trusted to tell.
The collections we’ve created with care.
The friendships we’ve built through our artwork.
And above all, the joy of creating together.
As identical twins, we’ve spent our whole lives side by side.
Working together feels as natural today as it did when we were children making things around the kitchen table.
Only now, instead of making memories for ourselves, we have the privilege of helping other people celebrate theirs.
We can’t think of anything more rewarding.
